CORTLAND, NY — With a two-goal lead and home ice advantage, the Red Dragons were unable to muzzle the Bulldogs. Adrian found the net four times in a span of six minutes, prompting Cortland Head Coach Joe Cardarelli to make a goalie change. A highlight came midway through the third period, when Dragon defenders hunkered down and killed a five-on-three power play.

CORTLAND, NY — Senior goalie Molly Goergen made sure the Red Dragons never squandered the lead. With a one-goal advantage in the second period, Goergen transformed into a vacuum during a penalty kill. The Minnesota native made two more fantastic stops late in the final frame, including an outstretched kick save, to secure the win.

READING, PA — A shorthanded goal for Cortland opened the floodgates. The Red Dragons quickly followed the score with four more goals, totaling five in the middle frame. The game was as physical as it was lopsided, with each team racking up multiple roughing penalties.

Statesmen force OT in final second
CORTLAND, NY — The Red Dragons were less than thrilled to be entering overtime.
Cortland was protecting a one-goal lead late in the third period, and had a chance to double that cushion with a mid-ice look at an empty net. The puck sailed wide right.
The Statesmen took possession and quickly pushed the puck into Dragon territory. After a scramble near Cortland’s net, the game was suddenly tied with one second on the scoreboard.
Hobart carried that momentum into overtime, scoring roughly two minutes after play resumed. A sea of orange rushed onto the ice.
For Cortland, it was a tough loss against the reigning NCAA DIII champions. The lesson learned, though, was valuable: Play with fire until all zeros are on the game clock.
